Ministers of Lillith

Lillith is reviled and denounced throughout most of Selan. Very few cultures worship her openly, and many cultures actively hunt down her worshipers wherever they may be found. There is rarely a dearth of worshipers however, sentient nature being as it is. This does keep her devotees, protectors, and ministers underground and services less common than those of the other deities.

When artists do depict Lillith, they tend to be very careful to make her extraordinarily beautiful, albeit cold, to avoid her inevitable wrath. This tendency has gotten many artists and sculptors into great trouble with the Grand Inquisition or other groups dedicated to the eradication of her cult. Many elven artists depict her as a beautiful elven woman of indeterminate age with fiery red hair and an equal amount of icy calm and fiery rage.

Lillith is the goddess of evil, pain, deception, malice, and destruction. She is not a stupid deity, nor does she allow her followers to be. She is the patron of intelligent schemes, long term planning, and expects her devotees to have a complete lack of moral qualms. Evil in her mind is a grand design of personal will over the will of others.

Her worshipers come from all walks of life. Anyone who nurses a grudge, envies his neighbor, lusts for someone they cant have, or who is willing to win at any cost is fertile ground for her worship. Outside of the Warlon Empire they must meet secretly, covens gathering in the depth of night in secret caves and hidden shrines. They often wear dark robes to shield their features, rarely wearing any single identifying object to reveal their faith.

Lillith will often grant her gifts to anyone who calls upon her, for a price. This price is certainly always evil, and may include the sacrifice of a sentient, despoliation of innocence, destruction of a precious or unique item, betrayal of a good cause, or anything else that fosters her goals. Game Masters and players may determine the cost of the gift on an individual basis. Every gift given to a single devotee will always cost more than the last.

Her priests and ministers must also give of themselves in sacrifice to their dark goddess. Their rituals almost exclusively utilize blood, pain, and death in their execution. Most of her gifts are granted to better help her minions accomplish her goals. Players and Game Masters may determine that a gift of youth, money, power, or some other intangible may be better than a regular granted option. The following list should not be considered complete: a minister of Lillith can bargain for nearly anything their black heart desires.

Protectors of Lillith are often short lived. Their job is to protect the lives of their assigned priests from anyone who would wish them harm. Since that includes nearly everyone else, they are often killed when their ministers are discovered. Many ministers travel with their priests from town to town, posing as bodyguards and mercenary warriors.

The membership of the church of Lillith is too small to have any sects or orders. Nearly every priest or coven is an order upon themselves. Each locale has their own diabolical and twisted forms of ritual, traditions, and symbolism.
